dr-orseDr. Michael Orser

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Orser is the founder and owner of Alouette Animal Hospital. The hospital first opened in 1987.  There are five children in the family. Sarah graduated from Dalhousie University in Dentistry and practices locally in Pitt Meadows. Melissa is currently working in the esthetics industry, Brett attends the Boucher Institute earning a degree in Naturopathic Medicine, Maverick is working towards a degree in computer sciences and Lachlan recently earned his IB Diploma and will be attending Brock University in the fall to pursue a degree in Sports Management. Dr. Orser enjoys golfing with his wife, Christine, travel and gardening as well as keeping Alouette Animal Hospital a cutting edge facility for the pet owners of Maple Ridge. They have two cats (McLuvin and Shadow) as well as a French Bulldog named Dexter. He was raised in Maple Ridge and graduated in 1983 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon.


Did you know…

If it were not for his timely acceptance to the University of Saskatoon, Dr. Orser would have pursued a career in genetics or as a radio DJ!


Dr. Tammy Wong

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Tammy Wong received her degree from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM) in Saskatoon. In addition to her DVM, Tammy completed a B.Sc. and Master’s degree in molecular biology and biochemistry.


Did you know…

Tammy’s parents are bakers and own a bakery in North Vancouver.


Dr. Min-Hye Chung

Veterinarian, DVM

Before calling Canada home, Dr. Chung spent her life growing up in England, Italy, and South Korea. Min pursued a degree in Cell Biology and Genetics at the University of British Columbia, but it was her ongoing love for animals that helped her realize her true calling. After graduation, she pursued her dreams of becoming a veterinarian by attending the University of Queensland in Australia. When Dr. Chung isn’t at the clinic treating her furry friends, she can be found in the great outdoors – hiking, snowboarding, or jogging!


Did you know…

Dr. Chung spent six weeks travelling and volunteering in Africa on her own. She is also a fine arts enthusiast, having studied ballet and classical dance for 6 years!


Dr. Sara Regehr

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Regehr completed her B.Sc. at the University of British Columbia in 2011 and then went on to complete her veterinary degree at Murdoch University in Australia.


Did you know…

Sara grew up on her family farm, learning how to handle young horses and even assisted with foalings and equine dentals.


Dr. Tim Cashin

Veterinarian, DVM

Dr. Cashin was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He completed a B.Sc (Honours) degree in Behavioural Neuroscience at Memorial University of Newfoundland with a focus on Animal Behaviour and Memory. Tim went on to further his education and complete his DVM at the Atlantic Veterinary College in PEI. When not practicing veterinary medicine, Tim can be found hiking, skiing, playing ultimate Frisbee or guitar.


Did you know…

Tim has a strong interest in animal welfare, twice having traveled to represent his veterinary school at the Intercollegiate Animal Welfare Judging and Assessment Competition.

Animal Health Technician

Alena is a Registered Animal Health Technician who graduated from the Douglas College program and joined the Alouette family in 2012. Alena is busy in the treatment area as part of our caring team that provides patient care. Alena’s interests include hiking and animal welfare as well as spending time with her Shepherd/Husky cross, Terra.


Chelaine

Receptionist

Chelaine graduated from the Veterinary Office and Animal Care program in 2011. Her background in client services, as a volunteer with LAPS and working in the veterinary field means that she brings a solid background of experience to her role with Alouette. She enjoys crocheting, sculpting and drawing in her free time.


Did you know…

Chelaine loves reading and averages a book per week.


Nikki

Animal Health Technician

Nikki is a Registered Veterinary Technician that joined our practice in December of 2016. She graduated with honours from the Douglas College Veterinary Technician program in April and then moved to Mission shortly after. Nikki has always been very passionate about animals. She decided to pursue a career in the field after her first trip to Southern Africa in 2010 where she worked on a wildlife conservation project. She went to Africa a second time in 2015 to help treat wild animals and hopes to return again soon. Nikki has a special interest in feline medicine and aspires to be a “cat whisperer”. She’s very passionate about helping fearful kitties feel comfortable when they visit us and having them leave with a positive experience. When Nikki is not at the clinic she can be found sweating it out in a hot yoga studio, exploring local mountains or hanging out with her own two kitties, Sierra and Selma.


Did you know…

Nikki would like to become a certified yoga instructor one day.

Office Manager

Kelley is one of our veterinary receptionists as well as Office Manager. She is also trained as a Veterinary Assistant. She is knowledgeable in many areas of canine behaviour.  Kelley also has an interest in computers and software, and that interest is often utilized to keep Alouette Animal Hospital up to date with current technology.  We are proud to have her as part of our family since 1996. Kelley is pictured here with her rescue dog, Spark.

Did you know…


Renata

Animal Health Technician

Renata works with us as an Animal Health Technician, however, her formal training was in Brazil where she worked for almost 7 years as a Veterinarian before moving to Canada. Her extensive education and experience have quickly made her an invaluable member of the Alouette team. Renata loves spending time outdoors with her children and husband and takes advantage of the surrounding beauty that BC has to offer, in her spare time. Renata has a dog, Lana and two guinea pigs named Pepper and Cinnamon but also counts the “fuzzy ones” that she meets at the clinic as her extended furry family.


Did you know…

Renata’s favourite food is pizza and she cannot stand the taste of mayonnaise.

Office Manager

Twyla first joined Alouette in 2003 after completing her Veterinary Assistant training and was with us for two years before taking time off to raise her family.  In 2011, Twyla rejoined our team.  Although she loves helping our clients, grooming, and patient care, she especially looks forward to the opportunity to win over the more “challenging” canine patients. In her free time, Twyla enjoys spending quality time with her family, both two legged and four!

When Twyla was 4 years old she appeared on the Internationally filmed television series, Romper Room.


Jennifer

Veterinary Assistant

Jennifer has had a love for animals since childhood. She also enjoys music, reading, writing, drawing, singing and hiking. Jen started volunteering regularly with animals three years ago at the Maple Ridge SPCA and Katie’s Place. She knew right way that her future career would involve animals and went on to pursue her Veterinary Office and Animal Health Care Certificate at Douglas College.


Did you know…

Jennifer spent time as a high school student visiting/observing at Alouette Animal Hospital and has returned years later to start her career in the animal health care field.


Caroline

Receptionist/Inventory Manager

Caroline (Care) joined us in 2015. She and her son live locally with their rescue animals Buddy, Jazz Hands and the ever enthusiastic Bron. Care’s work experience is in the human medicine arena. She was a certified paramedic, ambulance driver, Medical Office Assistant and has worked as a 911 Operator. Care’s love of animals began as a child and she was known to bring home every stray in the neighbourhood.

Care has travelled to Japan, Iceland, Portugal, Greece, England, Macao, across the US and Canada!



Christine

Receptionist

“It followed me home. Can I keep it?” Christine’s love for animals began at a very young age and her parents were asked this question regularly.

She grew up in East Vancouver and was drawn to Maple Ridge 19 years ago to being her family. With a background in accounting and years of customer service experience, Christine brings the knowledge and dispositions necessary to serve our clients in a professional and courteous manner.

Her motto is, “do what you love and love what you do.”


Did you know…

Christine has routinely back country camped for several weeks at a time without running water or electricity.


Jessica

Receptionist

Jessica has been a proud Maple Ridgeon since day one. She has worked with animals her whole life and started as a kennel assistant at the age of 17. Jessica’s hobbies including golfing (or losing all of her balls as she likes to put it) with her boyfriend, painting and eating sushi while watching Grey’s Anatomy. Jessica’s favourite animal is a turtle although she doesn’t think she will ever own one.


Did you know…

When Jessica was a little girl she was playing with a boxer puppy and it knocked out four of her front teeth. That’s why they’re called Boxers.
